Er Boqueron
Er Boqeron is brewed by La Socarrada near Valencia who are one of the upcoming breed of Spanish craft brewers. Uniquely, Er Boqueron is brewed using Mediterranean sea water sourced from a supplier who specializes in the treatment of sea water for food use (see <a class="link-text" href="http://www.aguademar.es/en" target="_blank">here</a> for more info). This is a collaboration between La Socarrada, Mediterranea, The Foundation for Nutritional Research and the Foundation for the Mediterranean Diet. For the brewing process, micro-filtered seawater is mixed in with the mash at the early stages of brewing. Seawater makes up less than 20% of the total water used in the brewing process so there is no residual saline tones. The beer is unpasteurized, unfiltered and without added gas which results in a deep copper coloured beer with fine bubbles and full malty aroma with a mix of notes from fruit to dry grass
